Updates for the New Year!

Welcome to the New Metaphoric Music.net! (that is .net from now on thanks to the sucky gods of the web world...) We were down for a few months with domain & hosting issues but thanks to Dr. Dave at Bitworks Music we are back up and runnin'!

NEWS:
A new band with a new name is being formed from some of the members of Onomata. The new drummer for this group is Nathan Logan (Hooverville, Jackie O Pillbox, New Town Drunks, etc). This improvisational group also consists of Todd Barbee on Sax and WX7; Corey Sims on trumpet, horns, accordian, ukelele, found stuff; Marc Medwin on keyboards and Brian Preston on bass. distortion x in the wind tunnel

From down the street I could hear the sighing, grinding sound... as I stepped sideways down the city block the wind picked up and my coat blew out lifting me into the air... the glass bowl formed in the glinting light below me as I drifted around the busy corner, there into the main street where the pigeons greeted me and music played... the amplifiers were in full melt mode with wind emmitting, flying out in a hazy array. The broad brown tones of many watts of tube power swirled in stereo panning phased exctasy across my windshield. The opening riff was the power and the glory all wrapped together and spun out across the concrete and trees, store fronts and buses. Strange, I found it was me playing the power chords reflecting largely against the magnified, glittering urban jungle. I slowly slid to the sidewalk, guitar in hand, as I watched myself in the pond in the park playing acoustic ballads with the earthy moms in the grass near the orchard in the hills.

The next selection of notes has the potential to be unlike any ever before produced. Therein lies joy.

Opening Riff

Opening riff of the new blog for Metaphoric Music activities. I will be posting news related to band gigs, performances, recordings, releases, and special updates.

As of this date (3/21/07) there are a few brewing projects. The ongoing concern is Onomata ... we are recording more new improvisations and continuing to develop that special O sound, recently described as the Jazz Pulse from Outer Space. We plan more gigs like those outdoor patio shows at Cafe Driade this spring and summer.

Circle of Willis is in the midst of a large tour of the inner recesses of parts unknown, with plans for much more playing soon. A challenge before them: define what they intend to do and then go beyond that.

Other brief news: I have set up a MySpace account for Metaphoric Music... that may be how you found us!
